Piping systems for chemical processes are based on applications and requirements:
Stainless steel piping (S.S. piping), S.S. 304 piping, S.S. 316 pipping are mainly used for corrosive chemicals for piping depending on chemical attack
Selection of thickness for plastic pipes are based on pressure ratings of pipe and schedule thickness
Selection of manifold pipe size and thickness is determined for process distribution headers
For more corrosive chemicals acidic HDPE piping, PVC piping and PP piping are used for long life
Pipe sizing is based on velocity, pressure drop and flow
Piping material and grades for pipe, fitting and valves, are according to ASME standards
To convey hot fluid and corrosive hot fluid CPVC piping is used
Pipe wall thickness is per ASME standards
